British Cycling have been handing out some good news for some riders in GB just in time for Christmas.
Over the last few weeks riders have been given their confirmation that they have qualified for the 2015 World Champs in Zolder, Belgium.
Have you qualified?
If you are unsure whether you are able to take part thanks to your 2014 race season then you can check the 2015 BMX World Championships Qualification Publication.
When do you need to enter?
There is a catch if you have qualified however, you need to solidify your place by entering by 31st January 2015. If not your place will be made available for those who are trying to qualify in the 2015 season.
So be quick if you want to solidify your place by Entering here.
Well this years World Champs will be the first time we have ventured outside since 2011, Copenhagen. 2012, “13 and “14 saw the indoor arenas getting tighter and tighter so now in Zolder, Belgium there will be no excuses.
The track will be wide open for some great moves and racing, the organisers have even named the three berms.
Track length is 380m long which will be a huge difference compared to the length of the last three years Worlds track. Also there will be now clever engineering of 2 in 1 start hills, theres plenty of room for two. The 8m starthill is tarmac with the 5m hill in true Belgian style , cobblestone. Both first jump take off are also made of tarmac will will make for some serious speed heading down that first straight.
The schedule this year could have its benefits or drawbacks depending on which way you look at it.
Training begins on the Sunday and Monday with 14 and under completing their World Champs by Tuesday. Wednesday will see the 15 and overs race with Cruisers on Thursday. If you are planning on watching the main event in the form of the Elites you have to wait until Saturday. I can see this being too long for some parents and getting out of there. For me I see this as a chance to catch up with some great BMX friends have a few Worlds after parties before the official afterparty that will probably move to a random bar on the night like last years.
